National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 22, 2021

Central Alberta Co-op will be recognizing National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th.  This day is an important step in the reconciliation process.  It provides us with an opportunity to recognize the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools, and to honour the survivors, their families and their communities.

Central Alberta Co-op is committed to being the preferred shopping destination in the communities we serve.  The Indigenous people are part of our communities as well as our teams.

Orange Shirt Day is inspired by former student Phyllis (Jack) Webstad's story of her first day at residential school when her new orange shirt, a gift from her grandmother, was taken from her as a six-year-old girl.  Our team members have been invited to wear an orange shirt on September 30 to join in recognizing and commemorating this important day.
