Fighting Against Forced & Child Labour in Supply Chains Act
May 30, 2024

On January 1, 2024, the new Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act (the Act) came into effect, mandating Canadian companies that meet certain criteria to publish an annual report describing their corporate policies and due diligence related to forced labour and child labour. The Act’s intent is to increase industry awareness, and transparency, and drive businesses to improve practices.

Canadian organizations have the responsibility to assess, identify and remove any of these exploitative practices in every step of their supply chain. As such, medium and large businesses are required to submit a report and complete an online questionnaire identifying steps taken in the previous fiscal year regarding their policies and procedures to address child and forced labour in their operations and supply chains.

To show our commitment and obligation, Central Alberta Co-op prepared and completed the report required. A copy can be found below.
